Pink Floyd gets some BLING

Pink Floyd started getting some BLING this week. The chrome has started arriving back from being redone so on it goes.

We also finished the bulk of installing the new wiring harness and we installed the new cool looking retro stereo.

Pink Floyd Week 23

We made great progress during week 23 of the build. The A/C, radiator and almost all of the engine bay is complete. It seems like this week I ended up doing everything twice because I forgot something or did it wrong the first time 🙂  Hopefully the rest of the build does not go that way!

We also got the air vent installed and started working on the trim bits. I started getting parts back from my chromer on Friday so hopefully it will all arrive this week.

I also picked up a new glass for the windshield and finished the installation of the new brake mater cylinder and emergency brake lines.

We also got the exhaust put in place, now we just have to put on all the hangers and clamps.

Lots more to do this week!

Pink Floyd – Week 22

Welcome to week 22 🙂 We made a lot of fabrication and re-assembly progress over the last week. We installed the new dual brake master system and finished shimming the body. Still working on the clutch rod, it is not lined up quite right.

We then finished most of the interior insulation (a product called Second Skin) but we ran out and had to order more.

We then completed the installation of a more modern windshield wiper system which required a bit of fabrication.

The Vintage Air A/C system was by far the most non-standard installation thus far in the project. It seems at each step of the process there are small tweaks here and there but over all it has had good instructions and it is almost completely installed.

Pink Floyd Has A Body!

The body and frame finally came back together as one today. The only thing left of Pink Floyd is the old hood hanging on the wall of my garage which reads Dark Side so I think that may be the new project name. Everything fit great but I did have to trim the inner fenders for the Meyers front end and I also did have to cut out the bottom of my ashtray to make room for the 5 speed Tremac. Now it is just putting all of the parts back on.

Even with the 1 inch drop springs in the rear the back end is still sitting higher than I would have expected. Hopefully once all the parts go back on and the springs settle a bit it will level out some. I tried to install a 1 inch lowering block but it move the traction bar forward an inch and I could not get it back in so I scrapped that plan for now. I may end up having to shorten my traction bar if I really need to use them.

Thanks to the who team of folks who helped me put the body back on today!

Pink Floyd Week 19 Progress (Color is looking GREAT!)

Week 19 continues to bring a lot of progress.  We started color sanding the body and it is looking GREAT so far! We have been working hard putting the chassis back together and we are down to the last few items before the body can be installed back on the frame.

Pink Floyd now has a new color!

After several weeks of prep work we finally shot the color and clear on Pink Floyd today. The project is getting exciting now that the car has paint and the chassis assembly is making great progress.

Pink Floyd – Week 18 progress (Finally Got Some Color)

Week 18 began with finally getting some color on a few parts.  We tried to lay down color in week 17 but we ran into fisheye issues and once we got that figured out it was just too darn hot to paint. This week has cooled down enough so we got a few panels done and hope to finish the rest this week.

Pink Floyd – Week 17 progress

Week 17 has been busy. We started putting the frame back together. The new front suspension is now complete, the brake lines are plumbed and we are close to installing the engine and transmission. Waiting on parking brake parts right now.

Note I got my mom-in-law to man the blasting cabinet on her vacation!
