1963 Corvette Split Window (Project Second Chance)

Well it seems I am a gluten for punishment, I am back for my 4th build since 2012. At the end of each build I keep saying this will be my last but the projects keep finding me. I am sure some of you know how that goes

For now I am calling this Project Second Chance because I am the second builder attempting to complete it

This car is not new to the forum but it is new to me. My good friend Matt (TNVetteGuy) started this project just under 2 years ago and he started posting progress pictures on 9/24/15. He stripped the car down, had it soda blasted, bought a lot of cool parts and he made a good amount of progress on the car. Then his priorities changed a little so we worked out a deal and the car now has a what I call a Second Chance at completion.

I have big plans for the car but I am still on the fence on color. My other 3 Corvettes are red so everyone thinks my paint gun only sprays red. I am thinking it will be either Torch Red or I am thinking of Watkins Glenn Gray. We have never spayed metallic so we are a little concerned on how it will turn out. We have Touch Red down to a science and know we can make it look awesome. Both of them will have a red interior.

Project 63 is ALIVE

Well, last weekend we finally got to take Project 63 around the block a few times. Over the weekend we got the hood on and Dennis came by and did a final polish. It looks GREAT, now all I need are a few bumpers which should be in tomorrow and the car is just about finished.

Project 63 – 4/28 Progress

I made a good amount of progress on project 63 this weekend. After weeks of tear down and cleaning finally I am to the point of re-assembly 🙂

The engine bay paint and engine paint is complete, finally got the repainted valve covers back on with new decals. I re-installed the batter mount and I started putting the wiring back in place. I also had to paint the new A/C compressor and Alt brackets so they will been to dry overnight.

I ran into a small issue when installing the lower pulley  I found out one of the 3 holes in the harmonic balancer was stripped. Fortunately I had an extra balancer so all is good now.

I re-installed the freshly repainted exhaust manifolds and I installed a new fuel pump, water pump and repainted thermostat housing.

I completed installing new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and rubber brake lines all the way around. Now I am just waiting on the master cylinder to come back form being re-sleeved.

Lastly I started final shaping of the fiberglass tunnel replacement. I just have a little more glass work then I can start installing the heat treatment for the floor.
